Get the right care

Pharmacy

Your pharmacist can do so much more than complete your prescription. They can give you expert clinical advice for minor health concerns and they can now offer treatment for seven common conditions without needing to see a GP, as part of a major transformation in the way the NHS delivers care.

Of 251 community pharmacies across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West, 244 offer the ground-breaking initiative. Find a participating Pharmacy First Registered Pharmacy here.

Highly trained pharmacists are able to assess and treat patients for sinusitis, sore throat, earache, infected insect bite, impetigo, shingles, and uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women (under the age of 65) without the need for an appointment or prescription.

By thinking ‘Pharmacy First’, people will find it easier and quicker to get the help they need without having to contact their GP surgery. The new service is part of a wider expansion of healthcare which will empower pharmacists to use more of their skills and give people more choice about their healthcare.
