Cancer – Early diagnosis saves lives

One in two people in the UK will be told that they have cancer sometime in their lives. However, more people are surviving cancer than ever before.

The key to this is finding it early.

Understanding the signs and symptoms, and what lifestyle or genetic factors increase your risk of developing cancer are key. Combined with knowing your own body and when something doesn’t feel right, means you can be alert to any changes that you should seek advice about.

The Thames Valley Cancer Alliance (TVCA) is the NHS organisation in our area responsible for ensuring the NHS Long Term Plan for cancer is carried out in local GP surgeries and hospitals. This plan aims to save thousands of lives each year by improving how we prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer.
